A stunning and easy fall dessert board combining crisp apples, gooey caramel, salty pretzels, and sweet treats. Perfect for parties and gatherings, this no-bake recipe comes together in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 medium apples (mix of Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, and Fuji)
  • 1 cup high-quality store-bought caramel sauce
  • 1 cup soft caramel candies (like Kraft), unwrapped
  • 2 cups mini pretzels or pretzel twists
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts, toasted if desired
  • Flaky sea salt (like Maldon), for sprinkling
  • 1 cup small cookies or cookie bites (e.g., brown butter pumpkin snickerdoodle cookies, shortbread, or ginger snaps)
  • ½ cup dark or milk chocolate chips or chopped chocolate bar
  • ½ cup dried cranberries or cherries (optional)
  • Small wedge of brie or sharp cheddar (optional)
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs for garnish (optional)
  • Honey for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the caramel: Warm the caramel sauce slightly in a small saucepan over low heat or in the microwave for 20-30 seconds until pourable but not hot. Pour into a small serving bowl. Place caramel candies in a separate small bowl.
  2. Toast the nuts (optional): Toast pecans or walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes, shaking frequently, until fragrant. Let cool completely.
  3. Slice the apples: Just before assembling, slice apples into ½-inch thick wedges. Toss with 1 tablespoon lemon juice to prevent browning if desired.
  4. Arrange the board: Place small bowls of caramel sauce and nuts on a large wooden board or platter. Fan apple slices in a cascading pattern around the bowls. Fill gaps with clusters of pretzels, cookies, chocolate chips, and dried fruit. Tuck cheese wedges between fruit and snacks.
  5. Add finishing touches: Sprinkle flaky sea salt over caramel sauce and apple slices. Garnish with fresh herb sprigs. Add dried cranberries or cherries in small piles for color.
  6. Final check: Ensure the board looks abundant and balanced with a mix of colors and textures. Fill any empty spots with extra pretzels or nuts.

Notes

Slice apples just before serving to prevent browning. For a nut-free version, skip pecans and double up on pretzels or add roasted chickpeas. For dairy-free, use dairy-free caramel sauce and skip cheese. The flaky sea salt is essential for balancing sweetness.
