These spooky mummy hot dogs are a quick and fun Halloween dinner that kids love. Made with just hot dogs, crescent roll dough, and candy eyes, they come together in under 20 minutes for a festive pre-trick-or-treat meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-size hot dogs (all-beef recommended)
  • 1 can (8-count) crescent roll dough
  • 1624 small candy eyes
  • Optional: ketchup or mustard (for glue)
  • Optional: 1 egg + 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips (about 1/2 inch wide).
  3. Wrap each hot dog with dough strips, starting at one end and working to the other. Leave about 1 inch of hot dog exposed at the top for the face. Overlap strips slightly and tuck ends underneath.
  4. Place wrapped hot dogs on prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  5. Optional: Brush dough with egg wash (1 beaten egg mixed with 1 tablespoon water) for a golden color.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes.
  8. While still warm, attach candy eyes using a tiny dab of ketchup or mustard as glue. Press gently onto the exposed hot dog area.
  9. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Keep dough cold for easier handling. Do not over-wrap hot dogs; 3-4 strips per hot dog is ideal. Let mummies rest 2 minutes after baking before moving. Add eyes just before serving for best appearance. For a vegan version, use plant-based hot dogs, vegan crescent dough, and skip egg wash (brush with plant milk). For gluten-free, use gluten-free crescent dough or puff pastry.
