  • 1/2 cup (120ml) tequila blanco
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) simple syrup
  • 2 cups (about 300g) ice cubes
  • Tajin seasoning for rimming the glass
  • Coarse salt (optional, for mixing with Tajin)

Instructions

  1. Pour Tajin seasoning onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass to moisten it, then dip the rim into the Tajin, twisting gently to coat evenly. Set glasses aside.
  2. Cut about 4 cups (600g) of seedless watermelon into chunks. Chill the watermelon beforehand for best results.
  3. Squeeze about 1/4 cup (60ml) of fresh lime juice and set aside.
  4. Make simple syrup if not using pre-made: combine equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan, heat gently until sugar dissolves, then cool. Measure out 2 tablespoons (30ml).
  5. In a blender, add watermelon chunks, tequila blanco, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and ice cubes. Blend on high until smooth, about 45-60 seconds, until thick and icy but easy to sip.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more simple syrup if needed. If too thick, add a little cold water or extra lime juice to balance.
  7. Pour the frozen watermelon margarita slushie into the prepared glasses. Garnish with a lime wedge or a small watermelon slice if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use cold, ripe watermelon for best icy texture and natural sweetness. Wet the glass rim thoroughly with lime juice before dipping in Tajin to help seasoning stick. Pulse ice first if blender struggles. Avoid over-blending to maintain icy texture. Chilling glasses before serving keeps the drink colder longer. For a non-alcoholic version, omit tequila and add sparkling water or lemon-lime soda.
