These mummy hot dogs are a fun, quick weeknight dinner that comes together in under 20 minutes. Made with simple ingredients like hot dogs, crescent roll dough, and cheese, they’re perfect for Halloween or any night you need a crowd-pleasing meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (beef, turkey, or chicken)
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 16 small cheese dots for eyes (cheddar slices or string cheese)
  • ¼ cup yellow mustard (for dip, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (for dip, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and carefully separate into 8 triangles. Keep them in triangle shape.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice each triangle lengthwise into 4-5 thin strips, about ¼ inch wide.
  4. Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel to help the dough stick.
  5. Take one hot dog and wrap a dough strip around it, starting at one end and working to the other. Leave a small gap at the top for the eyes. Overlap strips slightly for a mummy look.
  6. Place each wrapped hot dog on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between them.
  7. Gently press two small cheese dots into the exposed hot dog at the top of each mummy for eyes.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is slightly melted but still holding its shape.
  9. Let cool for 2 minutes to allow the cheese eyes to set.
  10. If making the mustard dip, stir together the yellow mustard and honey in a small bowl.
  11. Serve warm with the mustard dip on the side.

Notes

For best results, use thin hot dogs for even wrapping. Don’t use shredded cheese for eyes—use solid pieces. If dough is sticky, refrigerate strips for 5 minutes. For gluten-free, use gluten-free crescent roll dough.
