A festive and easy-to-assemble antipasto charcuterie board featuring vibrant red, white, and blue ingredients perfect for celebrations like the Fourth of July. Combines fresh cheeses, cured meats, pickled vegetables, and crunchy elements for a crowd-pleasing centerpiece.

Ingredients

  • Creamy fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine size)
  • Provolone slices or cubes
  • Parmesan shards
  • Thinly sliced salami (Genoa preferred)
  • Prosciutto slices
  • Capicola or soppressata (optional alternatives)
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Green olives, pitted (kalamata or Castelvetrano)
  • Roasted red peppers, sliced (jarred, drained)
  • Artichoke hearts, quartered (marinated)
  • Pickled pepperoncini
  • Assorted crackers and breadsticks (multigrain and plain recommended)
  • Marcona almonds or toasted walnuts
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Sprigs of rosemary or thyme (optional)
  • Extra virgin olive oil (for drizzling)
  • Cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Drain fresh mozzarella and pat dry. Slice provolone into bite-sized pieces. Use a vegetable peeler to shave parmesan into thin shards. Arrange these in different clusters across your board (about 15 minutes).
  2. Fold prosciutto and salami slices loosely to create volume. Layer them in small piles or fan shapes near the cheeses to invite pairing. Leave some space to add veggies (about 10 minutes).
  3. Halve cherry tomatoes, drain marinated artichoke hearts, and slice roasted red peppers. Place olives and pepperoncini in small bowls to avoid juices spreading. Nestle all around the meats and cheeses, balancing colors carefully (about 10 minutes).
  4. Fill in gaps with crackers, breadsticks, and sprinkle nuts evenly across the board. This adds texture contrast and fills out the display nicely (5 minutes).
  5. Scatter fresh basil leaves and sprigs of rosemary or thyme for aroma and a festive look. Drizzle a little extra virgin olive oil over the cheeses and sprinkle cracked black pepper. Adjust any sparse spots to keep the colors vibrant and balanced (5 minutes).

Notes

Prepare ingredients up to 30 minutes ahead and cover loosely with plastic wrap. Assemble final touches just before serving to keep herbs fresh and colors bright. Use small bowls for juicy or oily items to prevent sogginess. Bring cheeses and meats to room temperature about 20 minutes before serving for best flavor. For gluten-free, substitute crackers with cucumber or jicama slices. For dairy-free, omit cheeses or use vegan alternatives.
