These Healthy Turkey Chili Cups are crispy, cheesy, meaty, and just a little bit spicy—perfect handheld game day bites made with lean ground turkey, black beans, and wonton wrappers. They come together in under 30 minutes and are built for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey (93/7 works best)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced (about 1/2 cup)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (10 ounces) diced tomatoes with green chilies (e.g., Rotel)
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 package (12 ounces) wonton wrappers
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, sliced jalapeños, fresh cilantro, diced avocado

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray a 12-cup standard muffin tin with cooking spray.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink (5-7 minutes). Let it brown slightly.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Add diced onion and cook 2-3 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in drained black beans, diced tomatoes with green chilies, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  5. While chili simmers, press wonton wrappers into muffin cups, letting edges fan out. Lightly brush with olive oil or spray with cooking spray if desired.
  6. Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of turkey chili mixture into each wonton cup, filling about three-quarters full.
  7. Sprinkle a generous pinch of shredded cheddar over each cup.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until wonton edges are golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let cups cool in the tin for 2-3 minutes before removing. Use a small offset spatula or butter knife to gently lift them out.
  10. Top with sour cream, sliced jalapeños, fresh cilantro, or diced avocado. Serve warm.

Notes

For extra crispy edges, lightly brush wonton wrappers with olive oil before filling. Make filling a day ahead for better flavor. Do not overfill cups—about 2 tablespoons per cup is ideal. Let cups rest 2-3 minutes after baking to set filling. For air fryer: cook at 350°F for 6-8 minutes.
