Ingredients

  • Mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini)
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Balsamic glaze
  • Sea salt
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • Toothpicks or small skewers

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cherry tomatoes and blueberries under cold water. Pat dry with a kitchen towel. Tear the basil leaves into bite-sized pieces if large. Drain the mini mozzarella balls and gently pat dry to avoid sogginess. (About 5 minutes)
  2. On each toothpick or skewer, thread one blueberry first, followed by a basil leaf, then a mini mozzarella ball, and finally a cherry tomato. (10 minutes)
  3. Lay the finished skewers neatly on a flat serving platter.
  4. Lightly drizzle extra virgin olive oil over the skewers. Add a light drizzle of balsamic glaze. Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste. (3 minutes)
  5. Optional: Cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours if making ahead. Bring to room temperature before serving.

Notes

Use dairy-free mozzarella alternatives and maple-balsamic glaze for a vegan version. Pat mozzarella dry to avoid sogginess. If balsamic glaze is too thick, thin with a teaspoon of water; if too runny, simmer longer. Assemble and dress bites close to serving time for best freshness.
