A simple yet special appetizer featuring fresh figs wrapped in prosciutto, filled with creamy Gorgonzola cheese, and finished with a delicate honey glaze. Perfect for entertaining and quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 medium-sized fresh figs, ripe but firm
  • 12 thin slices prosciutto
  • 4 ounces Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled or cut into small cubes
  • 3 tablespoons honey (preferably raw or mild-flavored like clover honey)
  • A few sprigs fresh thyme (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Freshly ground black pepper, a pinch

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Rinse and pat dry the figs. Cut them in half lengthwise (or quarter if very large).
  3. Place a small cube or spoonful of crumbled Gorgonzola on the cut side of each fig half.
  4. Wrap each fig half with a slice of prosciutto, securing the cheese inside.
  5. Arrange the wrapped figs cut-side up on the baking sheet, spacing about an inch apart.
  6. Lightly brush each fig with olive oil.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until prosciutto crisps and cheese melts, figs tender but holding shape.
  8. While baking, warm the honey slightly to make it easier to drizzle.
  9. Drizzle warm honey over the figs as soon as they come out of the oven.
  10. Sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper and garnish with fresh thyme leaves if using.
  11. Serve warm immediately.

Notes

Use ripe but firm figs to avoid mushy texture. Do not overstuff with cheese to keep wrapping easy. Brush figs with olive oil to help prosciutto crisp. Drizzle honey glaze after baking to keep it glossy. For extra crispness, broil for 1-2 minutes but watch carefully to avoid burning. Can assemble figs up to 6 hours ahead and refrigerate before baking.
