A quick and easy homemade peach BBQ sauce that balances the natural sweetness of peaches with smoky and spicy undertones, perfect for ribs and chicken.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium ripe peaches, peeled and chopped (can substitute with 1 ½ cups frozen or canned peach slices, drained)
  • 1 cup ketchup (about 240 ml)
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar (60 ml)
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar (70 g) packed
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ¼ cup water (60 ml, to adjust consistency if needed)

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop 3 medium ripe peaches into small chunks, about 5 minutes. Handle gently if peaches are very soft.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine chopped peaches, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, Worcestershire sauce, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir over medium heat.
  3. Bring mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low. Cook uncovered for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until peaches soften and sauce thickens. Add up to ¼ cup water if sauce becomes too thick.
  4. Remove from heat and blend sauce until smooth using an immersion blender or regular blender (blend in batches and vent lid if using regular blender).
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, sugar, or vinegar as needed.
  6. Let sauce cool before using or storing in an airtight container. Refrigerate up to 7 days.

Notes

Use moderate heat to avoid scorching. Blending is optional for texture preference. Sauce tastes better after resting overnight. For gluten-free, use gluten-free Worcestershire sauce or tamari. For vegan, use vegan Worcestershire sauce and substitute brown sugar with coconut sugar. Adjust spiciness by adding cayenne, chipotle powder, or jalapeños.
