These no-bake energy balls combine rolled oats, peanut butter, and cocoa for a quick, kid-approved snack that is chewy, slightly fudgy, and perfect for on-the-go energy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats (90g)
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter (130g)
  • 1/4 cup honey (85g)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (15g)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional) (12g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional) (45g)

Instructions

  1. Measure out all ingredients and have them ready.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, cocoa powder, and chia seeds (if using). Stir until evenly distributed.
  3. Add peanut butter, honey, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Fold together with a spoon or spatula until a sticky, uniform dough forms (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Gently fold in mini chocolate chips, being careful not to over-mix.
  5. Scoop about 1 tablespoon (15g) of mixture and roll between palms to form firm balls. If too sticky, chill for 10 minutes and try again.
  6. Place formed balls on a baking sheet or plate lined with parchment paper.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  8. Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

If mixture is too dry, add a teaspoon of water or more honey. If too wet, add more oats. Use room temperature peanut butter and honey for easier mixing. Chilling is important to firm up the balls. For nut allergies, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed or almond butter and chia seeds with pumpkin seeds.
