These Easy Mummy Hot Dogs are a fun, fast, and delicious Halloween treat made with crescent roll dough wrapped around hot dogs, baked until golden, and finished with mustard eyes. Perfect for parties, school lunches, or a spooky dinner at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8-count) hot dogs
  • 1 can (8-count) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Mustard (for eyes)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean cutting board. Press the seams together gently to create one solid rectangle of dough.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough lengthwise into thin strips (about 8-10 strips per rectangle).
  5. Take one hot dog and start wrapping a strip of dough around it, starting at one end and working your way to the other. Leave a small gap at the top for the face. Overlap the dough slightly as you go. Don’t wrap too tightly.
  6. Place each wrapped mummy on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about an inch of space between each one.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water. Using a pastry brush, gently brush the tops of the dough strips. If using, sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. Then, using a toothpick or the tip of a knife, dab a tiny amount of mustard onto the exposed hot dog area to create the eyes.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t over-wrap the hot dogs; thin strips look more mummy-like. Watch the oven closely to prevent burning. Let mummies cool slightly before adding mustard eyes to prevent melting.
