This isn’t just another cheese board. This is a full-on Thanksgiving-inspired spread that looks like you spent all day on it—when really, you just arranged things on a platter. Ready in 20 minutes, it uses what you have and is perfect for the holiday rush.

Ingredients

  • Sharp cheddar, sliced
  • Brie or camembert, whole wheel
  • Smoked gouda or aged gouda, cubed
  • Crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • Genoa salami, sliced
  • Prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • Turkey breast, leftover or deli-sliced
  • Red grapes, small clusters
  • Dried cranberries or cherries
  • Fresh apple or pear slices
  • Candied pecans or walnuts
  • Marcona almonds or roasted salted almonds
  • Cranberry sauce, whole berry or jellied
  • Fig jam or orange marmalade
  • Honey or hot honey
  • Crostini or baguette slices, toasted
  • Butter crackers or water crackers
  • Pretzel crisps or breadsticks
  • Cornichons or gherkins
  • Castelvetrano olives, green
  • Pickled red onions
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • Fresh thyme or sage leaves
  • Pomegranate arils

Instructions

  1. Prep the Cheese (5 minutes): Take your cheeses out of the fridge about 15-20 minutes before you start. Slice the sharp cheddar into thin triangles or cubes. Place the whole brie wheel on the board—don’t cut it yet. Cube the smoked gouda into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Make the Salami Roses (5 minutes): Take 6-8 slices of salami. Overlap them slightly in a straight line. Roll them up tightly from one end, then gently pull the outer layers back to form ‘petals.’ Place them on the board.
  3. Arrange the Bowls (2 minutes): Place your small bowls or ramekins on the board first. Fill one with cranberry sauce, one with fig jam, and one with honey. Space them out so guests can reach them from different angles.
  4. Add the Meats (3 minutes): Fold the prosciutto slices into loose ribbons or simply drape them in small piles. Place the salami roses and prosciutto near the edges of the board. If using leftover turkey, roll slices up with a little cream cheese inside.
  5. Place the Cheese (3 minutes): Position the cheese piles around the board, away from the bowls. Keep the brie whole. Group the cheddar slices together and the gouda cubes together. Leave a little space between each type.
  6. Fill in with Fruits & Nuts (4 minutes): Scatter the grape clusters in a few spots. Add small piles of dried cranberries and candied pecans. Tuck apple slices near the cheddar. Fill any empty gaps with almonds or extra nuts.
  7. Add Crunch & Pickles (3 minutes): Arrange the crostini and crackers in small stacks or fans around the board. Place the cornichons and olives in little piles.
  8. Garnish & Final Touches (2 minutes): Tuck fresh rosemary sprigs and thyme leaves around the board. Sprinkle pomegranate arils over the top. Drizzle a little honey over the brie if desired. Fill any big empty spots with extra nuts or crackers.
  9. Serve Immediately or Chill: This board is best served at room temperature. If making ahead, cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours. Take it out 20 minutes before serving to let the cheese soften.

Notes

Don’t overthink the arrangement—place ingredients in small clusters for a natural look. Balance flavors by grouping salty cheese near sweet jam. Use nuts and dried fruit as filler ingredients to fill gaps. Keep the board at room temperature for best flavor. Store-bought items like crostini, jam, and candied nuts work perfectly.
