These easy Halloween popcorn balls with candy corn are sticky, sweet, and made with just 3 ingredients. They come together in about 15 minutes and are perfect for Halloween parties, school events, or a fun treat with the kids.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)
  • 1 (10-ounce) bag regular marshmallows (about 4 cups)
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Optional: pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Pop your popcorn. If using an air popper, run until you have about 10 cups. If using stovetop, heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large pot over medium heat, add 1/2 cup kernels, cover, and shake occasionally until popping slows. Pour into a large mixing bowl and remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. Prepare your workspace. Line a large baking sheet or countertop with parchment paper. Lightly butter your hands or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  3. Melt the butter and marshmallows. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine 3 tablespoons butter and the entire bag of marshmallows. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and completely melted (about 1.5 to 2 minutes total). Alternatively, melt on stovetop over low heat, stirring constantly.
  4. Add the candy corn. Stir 3/4 cup of the candy corn into the warm marshmallow mixture. Reserve the remaining 1/4 cup for pressing onto the outside of the balls later.
  5. Combine with popcorn. Pour the marshmallow-candy corn mixture over the popcorn. Use a silicone spatula to gently fold everything together until every kernel is coated. Work quickly.
  6. Let it cool slightly. Let the mixture sit for 2-3 minutes until cool enough to handle but still warm enough to shape.
  7. Shape the popcorn balls. Using buttered hands, scoop up about 1/2 cup of the mixture and gently press into a ball shape. Don’t squeeze too hard. Place each ball onto the parchment paper. Repeat until all mixture is used (about 10-12 balls).
  8. Press on extra candy corn. While the balls are still warm, press a few pieces of the reserved candy corn onto the outside of each ball.
  9. Let them set. Allow the popcorn balls to cool completely on the parchment paper for about 15-20 minutes until firm.

Notes

Work quickly as the marshmallow mixture sets fast. Keep hands buttered to prevent sticking. If mixture gets too stiff, microwave for 10-15 seconds to soften. Use fresh popcorn for best results. Let the marshmallow cool about 30 seconds before adding candy corn to prevent it from melting completely.
