This quick garlic butter baked salmon is tender, flaky, and ready in under 15 minutes with just one pan. A simple, foolproof weeknight dinner that’s packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170g each)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (56g), melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked or sweet)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or dill, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Add minced garlic, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, honey or maple syrup, paprika, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them skin-side down (if using skin-on) in a 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving space between each fillet.
  4. Pour the garlic butter sauce evenly over the salmon, coating the tops and letting some pool around the sides.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) at the thickest part.
  6. Let the salmon rest in the dish for 2 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley or dill and an extra squeeze of lemon if desired. Spoon pan sauce over each fillet before serving.

Notes

For best results, let salmon sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before baking. Pat fillets very dry to ensure the butter sauce clings properly. Do not overcrowd the dish; use two dishes if needed. Salmon continues cooking after removal from oven, so take it out when just barely done. Leftovers keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently.
