A simple, quick, and comforting snack featuring thinly sliced apples dusted with cinnamon and drizzled with warm peanut butter, perfect for cozy fall evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium-sized apples (about 1 pound / 450g), preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (optional, can substitute with coconut sugar)
  • ⅓ cup (80g) creamy or natural peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • A small pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Using a sharp knife or mandoline slicer, slice the apples as thinly as possible—about ⅛ inch (3 mm) thickness.
  2. Place the apple slices in a large bowl and pour 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice over them. Toss gently to coat all slices. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1 tablespoon granulated sugar over the apples. Toss again until evenly coated.
  4. Spread the cinnamon-coated apple slices in a single layer on a serving platter.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine ⅓ cup peanut butter, 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup, and ½ teaspoon vanilla extract. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until warm and pourable (about 40-60 seconds).
  6. Drizzle the warm peanut butter mixture evenly over the arranged apple slices.
  7. Lightly sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the top to balance the sweetness.
  8. Serve immediately for maximum crunch and contrast. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 12 hours; rewarm drizzle slightly before serving.

Notes

If peanut butter is too thick, add a teaspoon of warm water while microwaving to loosen it. Slice apples thinly (about ⅛ inch) for best crispness. Toss apples with lemon juice immediately after slicing to prevent browning. Warm peanut butter gently to avoid oil separation. Leftovers soften over time; best eaten fresh.
