This Halloween Spiderweb Charcuterie Board is a showstopping centerpiece that combines a structural web of pretzel sticks and salami with an array of meats, cheeses, fruits, and nuts. It’s quick to assemble, uses simple ingredients, and is perfect for Halloween gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large bag (1012 oz) pretzel sticks
  • 8 oz hard salami or pepperoni slices
  • 1 can large pitted black olives
  • 1 small piece red bell pepper
  • 1216 oz assorted cheeses (sharp cheddar, creamy brie, smoky gouda)
  • 810 oz assorted cured meats (prosciutto, soppressata, capicola)
  • 1 large bunch grapes (red or green)
  • 810 oz assorted crackers
  • 1/2 cup fig jam or honey
  • 1/2 cup dried apricots or figs
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (Marcona almonds or candied pecans)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Board: Place small bowls or ramekins in the center of a large serving board. Fill one bowl with fig jam, one with black olives (reserve one for the spider), and one with a sliver of red bell pepper for the spider’s eyes.
  2. Build the Pretzel Stick Web: Arrange pretzel sticks like spokes on a wheel, radiating outward from the central bowls. Place them about 1-2 inches apart at the outer edge. Press the inner ends gently against the bowls.
  3. Create the Salami Threads: Fold each salami slice in half, then in half again to form a quarter-moon shape. Place these curved pieces between the pretzel stick spokes, starting from the center and working outward. Overlap slightly to create 2-3 concentric rings.
  4. Assemble the Charcuterie: Fill the spaces between the web lines with cheeses (sliced or cubed), cured meats (folded or in ribbons), grapes, dried fruit, and nuts. Avoid piling items on top of the web.
  5. Build the Spider: Cut a second olive in half lengthwise, then cut each half into 4 thin strips for legs. Arrange the legs on the board, place the whole olive body on top, and use a dab of jam to stick two red bell pepper slivers onto the olive for eyes.
  6. Final Touches: Step back and fill any empty gaps with extra crackers or nuts. Ensure the web remains visible. Add a few extra pretzel sticks around the edges for easy grabbing.

Notes

Use thick, extra-hard pretzel sticks for structural integrity. Let salami sit at room temperature for 10 minutes to soften before folding. Assemble no more than 2 hours before serving to keep pretzels crunchy. If a pretzel stick breaks, use two shorter pieces overlapping slightly.
