A quick and easy salmon recipe cooked in the air fryer with a sticky-sweet maple Dijon glaze that caramelizes beautifully, delivering flaky, tender, and flavorful salmon in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (about 6 ounces or 170 grams each)
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • Fresh lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season both sides lightly with salt and black pepper. (5 minutes)
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until smooth. (3 minutes)
  3. Brush olive oil evenly on the salmon skin side, then flip and brush the glaze on the flesh side generously. Reserve a little glaze for brushing halfway through cooking. (5 minutes)
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each piece. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 7 minutes.
  6. Brush the reserved glaze over the tops of the salmon fillets and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until salmon is opaque and flakes easily but remains juicy inside. (10-11 minutes total cooking time)
  7. Check doneness starting at 9 minutes if you prefer less cooked salmon. (1 minute)
  8. Transfer the salmon carefully to plates, squeeze fresh lemon over the top, and serve immediately. (2 minutes)

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking to ensure crispy skin. Use skin-on fillets for best results. Adjust cooking time if fillets are thicker or thinner than 1 inch. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. The glaze can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For a spicy variation, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the glaze. If no air fryer is available, broil salmon in the oven for 6-8 minutes with glaze applied.
