perfect crockpot ham recipe - featured image

A fuss-free slow cooker ham recipe featuring a sweet and tangy cherry glaze with pineapple rings, delivering tender, juicy, and flavorful results perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 to 6-pound fully cooked bone-in or boneless ham
  • 1 (20-ounce) can pineapple rings, drained
  • 1 cup cherry preserves
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ cup water or pineapple juice

Instructions

  1. Remove the ham from packaging and pat dry with paper towels. Trim any thick fat cap if desired (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together cherry preserves, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and ground cloves until smooth.
  3. Pour water or pineapple juice into the bottom of the slow cooker to keep the ham moist. Place the ham inside, flat side down.
  4. Spoon half of the cherry glaze over the ham, spreading evenly. Arrange pineapple rings on top, overlapping slightly for full coverage. Drizzle remaining glaze over pineapple rings.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C). Avoid lifting the lid frequently.
  6. Optional: Transfer ham and pineapple rings to a baking sheet and broil for 3-5 minutes for a caramelized top, watching closely to prevent burning.
  7. Let the ham rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

Use a fully thawed ham for even cooking. For a sticky crust, broil the ham briefly after slow cooking. Add pineapple juice to loosen glaze if too thick. Rest ham before slicing to retain juices. Check preserves for gluten if needed. For low sugar, substitute half the brown sugar with coconut sugar or maple syrup. Optional spicy, smoky, or fruit variations can be added to the glaze.
