These healthy turkey burger lettuce sliders are a fresh, wholesome meal that’s easy to whip up anytime you want something light but packed with flavor. They offer a fresh twist by replacing traditional buns with crisp lettuce leaves for a guilt-free, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) lean ground turkey
  • 23 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (gluten-free if needed)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 810 lettuce leaves (Butter lettuce or Romaine)
  • Optional toppings: tomato slices, avocado slices, red onion rings, mustard, mayo, or light yogurt-based sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, green onions, garlic, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix gently but thoroughly until evenly incorporated, avoiding overmixing.
  2. Shape the mixture into 8 small patties, about 2-3 inches wide and ½ inch thick. Wet hands with water if mixture feels sticky.
  3. Preheat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add a light drizzle of olive oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  4. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and juices run clear with a golden-brown crust.
  5. While patties cook, wash and dry lettuce leaves, choosing larger, sturdy ones to hold the patties.
  6. Place each cooked patty on a lettuce leaf. Add desired toppings such as tomato, avocado, red onion, or a dollop of mustard or mayo. Fold the leaf around the patty like a taco.
  7. Serve immediately with a side of crunchy veggies or a light salad.

Notes

Do not overmix the turkey mixture to keep patties tender. Use a hot pan to get a good sear and lock in juices. Check doneness with a thermometer (165°F). Let patties rest a few minutes after cooking. Use sturdy lettuce like Butter lettuce or Romaine to hold sliders without tearing. Keep cooked patties warm in a low oven if cooking in batches.
