A quick and refreshing summer drink combining fresh watermelon, lime, and mint for a perfectly balanced, hydrating beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (600g) fresh watermelon, cubed and seeds removed
  • Juice of 2 limes (about 3 tablespoons or 45 ml)
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves, rinsed
  • 2 cups (480 ml) cold water (or sparkling water for fizz)
  • 12 tablespoons (12-25g) sugar, honey, or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups (600g) of fresh watermelon into cubes, removing any seeds.
  2. Place the watermelon cubes and 10-12 fresh mint leaves in your blender.
  3. Add 2 cups (480 ml) of cold water and the juice of 2 fresh limes (about 3 tablespoons or 45 ml).
  4. Blend on high for about 1-2 minutes until smooth and vibrant pink.
  5. Add 1-2 tablespoons (12-25g) of sugar, honey, or agave syrup depending on your preference and the watermelon’s natural sweetness. Blend again briefly to incorporate.
  6. Optional: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher or bowl to remove pulp and any tiny seed bits.
  7. Refrigerate the strained agua fresca for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld and the drink become cold.
  8. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or a lime wedge.

Notes

Straining is optional depending on your texture preference. Use sparkling water for a fizzy twist. Adjust sweetness based on watermelon ripeness. Fresh mint is essential for best flavor. Chill for at least 30 minutes for optimal taste.
