A simple and quick baked salmon recipe using just five ingredients: salmon fillets, lemon, fresh herbs, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Perfect for busy weeknights, this dish is flavorful, tender, and fuss-free.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (6 ounces / 170 grams each)
  • 1 medium lemon, sliced thinly
  • A handful of fresh dill or parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper to taste
  • Optional: pinch of garlic powder or paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
  3. Place the salmon skin-side down on a lined baking sheet or oven-safe dish.
  4. Drizzle each fillet with about ½ tablespoon (7 ml) of olive oil, then sprinkle salt and freshly cracked black pepper evenly.
  5. Lay thin lemon slices evenly over each fillet.
  6. Scatter the chopped fresh dill or parsley on top.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, depending on thickness, until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is opaque but still moist inside.
  8. Let the salmon rest for 2-3 minutes after baking.
  9. Serve hot, optionally squeezing extra fresh lemon juice over the top.

Notes

Pat salmon dry to prevent steaming and help seasonings stick. Use fresh herbs for best flavor. Check doneness at 12 minutes to avoid overcooking. Optional spices like garlic powder or paprika add extra flavor. Salmon can be cooked on grill or skillet but lemon-herb slices work best baked. Leftover salmon stores well in fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently in oven to avoid dryness.
