A fun, creamy, and colorful homemade drink featuring vibrant rainbow swirls in milk, perfect for parties and nostalgic treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) whole milk (or 2% milk as preferred)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) sweetened condensed milk (recommend Eagle Brand)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) – gel colors recommended
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry syrup (optional, homemade or store-bought)
  • Clear glass bottles or jars for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together 4 cups (960 ml) whole milk, 1/2 cup (120 ml) sweetened condensed milk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth, about 2-3 minutes. Whisk gently to avoid froth.
  2. Divide the milk mixture evenly into six small bowls. Add a few drops of each food coloring to a different bowl (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple). Stir gently to combine without bubbles, about 5 minutes.
  3. Ensure glass bottles or jars are clean and dry. Place upright on a stable surface, about 2 minutes.
  4. Starting with red, use a small spoon or pipette to carefully pour a thin layer of colored milk into the bottom of a bottle. Tilt the bottle slightly and slowly add the next color (orange), letting it swirl naturally against the glass. Continue layering all six colors in order, about 1-2 tablespoons each, until the bottle is almost full. This takes around 10 minutes per bottle. Pour slowly to avoid mixing colors too much.
  5. Seal the bottles or cover jars with lids or plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to let flavors meld and colors settle.
  6. Before serving, gently swirl the bottle to create a marbled effect. Pour into glasses or drink straight from the bottle with a straw. Enjoy immediately!

Notes

Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors without diluting milk. Pour layers slowly against the glass wall to avoid mixing colors. Chill colored milk before layering to maintain separation. Whisk gently to avoid froth. For dairy-free version, use almond, oat, or coconut milk and coconut condensed milk. Reduce sweetened condensed milk or use natural sweeteners for less sweetness.
