A comforting and easy slow cooker recipe featuring frozen meatballs simmered in a sweet and tangy honey BBQ sauce with grape jelly, perfect for parties and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds frozen meatballs (beef or turkey)
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (240 ml)
  • 1 cup grape jelly (240 g)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (30 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (5 ml)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (2 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (2 g)
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine BBQ sauce, grape jelly, honey, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir until the jelly is mostly dissolved and the sauce is smooth.
  2. Place frozen meatballs evenly in the slow cooker; no need to thaw.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the meatballs and gently stir to coat without breaking them.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours until sauce bubbles gently and thickens.
  5. About halfway through cooking, gently stir the meatballs to ensure even cooking and saucing. If sauce is too thin, mix 1 teaspoon cornstarch with 2 teaspoons water and stir in to thicken.
  6. Before serving, taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot with toothpicks or over rice.

Notes

Do not over-stir meatballs during cooking to prevent breaking. Use a thicker BBQ sauce to avoid watery sauce. For extra caramelization, broil meatballs for 3-5 minutes after slow cooking. Frozen meatballs cook well straight from freezer; add extra cooking time if needed. Variations include adding cayenne pepper for spice or substituting grape jelly with cranberry jelly for a tart twist.
